Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Summer Gala
SARANAC LAKE – The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee invites the public to attend the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Summer Gala at the Harriettstown Town Hall at 39 Main Street on Friday, July 11 at 6:30-11:00p.m. Gala attendees will adorn elegant dress attire for a refined red carpet evening featuring dinner, open bar, dancing, live and silent auctions and a Bid & Bump Board.
The highlight of the event, the Bid & Bump Board, offers the opportunity to bid on seats for exclusive and unique events. The bidding elicits fast-paced action and excitement as bidders are bumped off by others that are willing to place a higher bid for a seat.
Gail Brill, Gala Coordinator, commented, "I thought this time of year would be an excellent fundraising opportunity for the community to keep Winter Carnival in mind as we near closer to planning next year's carnival. It's also when our summer visitors are here, and a great opportunity to raise awareness of our Village's signature event."
The committee is seeking community members and businesses interested in supplying an event which could accommodate up to 12 participants for the Bid & Bump Board. Events could include themed dinner parties or BBQ's, boat outings and other fun activities which would garner bids by Gala attendees. Also desired are items for the auctions which could include gift baskets, artwork or other specialty gifts. The committee will split gift basket profits 50/50 with the organization supplying the basket.
The cost to attend the Gala is $75 per person (21 and over) and proceeds benefit the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee, except in the case of gift baskets where proceeds will be shared with event partners. Please make checks payable to the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival and mail to the attention of Gail Brill at 46 Fawn Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. Seating is limited for this special event, so please RSVP by June 24 to email@example.com or call 518-586-1063.
The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee, formally known as the Society for Promotion of Winter Carnival, Saranac Lake, Inc., is a group of volunteers dedicated to organizing an annual mid-winter festival. This 10-day, communitywide event traces its roots to a one-day Winter Carnival held in 1897 by the Pontiac Club. The Carnival honors its heritage every year by building an Ice Palace from blocks of ice harvested from Lake Flower's Pontiac Bay, where carnival events have been traditionally held for generations.
