SARANAC LAKE – The collectible poster designed by "Doonesbury" cartoonist Garry Trudeau for the 2016 Saranac Lake Winter Carnival is now available for sale. Trudeau, who was raised in Saranac Lake, has been creating the Winter Carnival poster design since 2012. He created the poster to correspond with the carnival's theme "Superheroes & Villains." Proceeds from the poster sales benefit the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival.
Garry Trudeau signed 100 posters as fundraisers for the benefit of Winter Carnival. Unsigned posters are also available. To purchase a poster contact Jeff Dickson by e-mail at email@example.com or by phone at (518) 891-4344. Signed posters cost $60 and unsigned posters cost $15, including tax. There is an additional cost for shipping if local pick-up is not possible. Those who have purchased signed posters in the past should contact Jeff Dickson immediately to continue the series. Unclaimed numbered posters will be made available to the public on a first come/first served basis. Contact Mr. Dickson to be placed on the waiting list.
Unsigned posters are available at Ampersound (52 Main Street) and the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce (193 River Street), which is the carnival's headquarters. As in the past, a raffle will be held for signed poster #1. Sales are limited to 100 raffle tickets at a cost of $5 each. Tickets are available from Jeff Dickson until the opening of carnival on Feb. 5 and then will be available at headquarters until February 14.
Garry Trudeau also designed two buttons this year for the carnival, but they are not yet available. More information about buttons will be communicated once they are on sale.
