Archbishop 2008

Archbishop – Dermott Morgan

Dermott was born in Saranac Lake. The youngest of 11 children, he was raised on left-over table scraps and hand-me-down clothes.  He is a proud native of Saranac Lake. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served 4 years honorably. Later on he received an associates degree from North Country Community College, a Bachelors degree from Cortland State and a  Masters degree from Potsdam State. Through his travels, Dermott was lucky enough to meet the woman of his dreams, his wife  Elizabeth. They have been blessed with two wonderful children, Haleigh and Dermott Jr. . Dermott and his family moved back to Saranac Lake and he has been working in the School District as a teacher and coach for the past 13 years. Elizabeth and he are also partners with his sister Casey and brother Terry as owners of Morgans 11 on the beautiful Saranac River in downtown Saranac Lake! His  fondest memories of Winter Carnival were his senior year as a member of the Winter Carnival Court. It was that year in 1984 that his mother, Sheila Morgan, was voted Queen of the Winter Carnival.  Dermott is  humbled to again be part of the royal family. He wants to thank everyone involved for allowing him to be part of the 2008 Winter Carnival.
