Feb. 15, 2011: Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee Chairman Jeff Dickson accepts on behalf of the Winter Carnival Committee a proclamation from the Saranac Lake Village Board, presented by Mayor Clyde Rabideau.
Feb. 13, 2011: Carnival Royalty does the hokey-pokey on Main Street during the Kiddie Parade on the final day of Winter Carnival.

Feb. 8, 2011: Winter Carnival King Ed Scharmer and Queen Cheri Fisher joined Parade Grand Marshal Cathy Moore at the Grand Marshal Reception ... although Cathy's attendance was in spirit, not in reality. Cathy had injured her ankle last week and was in surgery today so was not able to attend the reception in her honor.
Feb. 6, 2011: A racer in the White Stag Downhill Ski Race at Mount Pisgah drops into a tuck toward the bottom of the course.
Feb. 5, 2011: Winter Carnival Queen Cheri Fisher lets loose with the frying pan in the NBT Bank Ladies Frying Pan Toss.
Feb. 5, 2011: The opening fireworks and a heavy snowfall combined to create a surreal light over the Ice Palace as Winter Carnival revelers watched the pyrotechnic display. Having just pulled the lever to turn on the Palace lights, the Carnival Royalty and Court can be seen in the foreground watching the fireworks.
Feb. 4, 2011: Pages Emma Peer and Dylan Murnane perform in the Pages’ dance to the tune pf “What Do The Simple Folk Do?” from the musical "Camelot" during the Winter Carnival Coronation celebration at the Harrietstown Town Hall.
Feb. 2, 2011: Robin Johnson starts on his carving of one of the knights that stands sentry at the entry to the 2011 Ice Palace. Many more of Robin's ice carvings can be seen in the interior of the medieval ice castle.
Feb. 1, 2011: A view looking up from inside one of the towers with all the light fixtures set in place, ready for the official lighting on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m.
Jan. 31, 2011: Bill Ross works on the electrical wiring for the lights in this year’s Ice Palace. The official lighting of the Ice Palace will take place on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. immediately followed by the opening fireworks.

Jan. 26, 2011: Jim Murnane, Dave Webb, Jeff Reyell and Mark Simkins are part of the night crew working on the Ice Palace. Here they wrestle an ice block in place for the wall in the "Keep" located behind the medieval castle being built next to Lake Flower.
Jan. 23, 2011: Joe Spadaro works his special skill of mixing slush for “cementing" the ice blocks into the wall of the Ice Palace.
Jan. 21, 2011: A royal gathering ... past Winter Carnival Kings and Queens gathered to review nominations and cast their ballots for the 2011 King and Queen. The group took a moment afterward to pose for a very royal portrait.
Jan. 21, 2011: Chris Reeves, Dean Baker and Bill Ross wrestle one of the blocks onto the wall in the second day of Ice Palace building. Building will go on over the weekend and anyone interested in volunteering can stop by the Ice Palace during the day.
Jan. 19, 2011: The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee is deep into planning the 2011 Saranac Lake Winter Carnival. The Committee has been meeting since September and will continue to meet every Wednesday evening up to the start of Winter Carnival. This photograph is from the Jan. 19 meeting.
