RoseAnn Hickey was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, grew up in Delaware and moved to Saranac Lake in 1976 to teach at St. Bernard's School. She has also worked at Petrova Elementary School in Saranac Lake, was the principal of St. Agnes School in Lake Placid and taught for 20 years at Lake Placid Elementary School before retiring in 2014. Hickey received her bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1971 from the University of Delaware, and in 1985 she received her master's degree from SUNY Plattsburgh. She has volunteered for the 1980 Winter Olympics, Ironman, snowshoe and cross-country ski races, and the Relay for Life. She was one of the original board members of the Getaway Youth Center and has been a board member for Creative Healing Connections for women with cancer. She has been a member of the Harrietstown Zoning Board of Appeals and a member of the Potsdam Kiwanis club. She is the past president of the Beta Mu Chapter of Kappa Gamma Society International. At St. Bernard's she has sat on the parish council and folk group, and has been youth minister and Eucharistic minister. She has taught confirmation classes and has been a member of the staff at Camp Guggenheim, including director. She is the youngest child to the late John and Elizabeth Hickey and is very proud to have had two sisters, Patricia and Bette, and a brother, John.
