SARANAC LAKE – The public is welcome to vote on next year's Saranac Lake Winter Carnival theme. Winter Carnival Committee members chose five potential themes at their meeting at the Saranac Lake High School on March 21. Members pooled together a list of many theme ideas, some that were resubmitted from past years and others proposed from the community this year. The five themes chosen are: 'Candy Carnival', 'Chinese New Year', 'Frozen Fiesta', 'Totally '80s' and 'Under the Big Top.'
People interested in voting for their favorite of the five themes have many options, including contacting a committee member, submitting a vote on the Winter Carnival Facebook page or through the contact section on the Carnival's website, www.saranaclakewintercarnival.com. The deadline to submit votes is April 24. In addition, it is tradition in Saranac Lake for readers of the Adirondack Daily Enterprise to vote for their favorite theme in the paper's online poll at www.adirondackdailyenterprise.com. The poll will run on the Enterprise website from March 27 to April 3.
The Committee will be combining results of the multiple polls as a source of input from the community, and the choice will then be based on many factors to make its final decision on the 2018 theme. The theme selection will take place on April 26 by the Committee and will be announced to the public soon after. The 2018 Saranac Lake Winter Carnival will be held from February 2-11.
