Local business owner Diane Miller of Prescription Sewing invites the public to participate in a "Sun Catcher display of artistic talent" for a new Winter Carnival 2022 event. A call to action now to plan and make a SUN CATCHER before February 4th, 2022 to be considered for the "Peoples Choice Award" of $100 to the one with the most votes. There will be 3 categories of entries including Professional Artist, General Public and Children ages 16 and under.
Sun Catchers are simple to make from things in your own kitchen. Allowing for creativity anything can be added to individualize your entry. We ask that items used are not something to become trash as they melt. (ie. no Rubik's Cubes, paper, plastics, etc.) It is an easy process of making a large colorful ice cube in a cake pan. Sun Catcher themes can be creating colorful lines in ice with food coloring, a theme such as nature, "The 80's, Uniquely Saranac Lake, etc. A size limit of 12", round or square, is necessary due to considering weight for hanging. All entries will receive a number and zip ties will be provided for hanging.
